The Falk Family

I have a lot of fun with clients....but this was really special.  I literally walked into these people's home, (who I have never met before in my life) and felt like I had been friends with them for years.   I feel like I grew up with them or something....it was uncanny!  We had a blast, and I loved shooting them at their beautiful property...It is almost sweet baby girl's first birthday, so we took tons of pics of her...but managed to get some family ones as well....

Someone got their first taste of cupcake....and immediately smooshed it under her leg.

Miss Maddie

Sigh.  This baby is so beautiful, it's ridiculous.  Her eyelashes, her sweet little personality...I could snap pics of this one all day!  Mommy and Daddy owe it to the universe to pop out a few more of these....

Ella, Logan and Finley

These three were a HOOT.  Finley kept wanting to just suck her thumb, Logan was offended every time one of the other babies touched her, and Ella just wanted to RUN.  Luckily, they're cute enough to make it worth it!

Sofiya and Max

Today I had a very special session....these two cuties are the little ones of someone who means a lot to me.  Catherine was my best friend when we lived in Panama City, Florida in the 80's.  I have so many wonderful memories with her...riding our bikes all over the air force base, digging giant holes in the ground as underground forts, making Barbie dream houses out of encyclopedias since we didn't have "real" Barbie mansions...the list goes on and on.  Through facebook we have reconnected (see?  That thing IS good for something!!) and she brought her babies to San Antonio this morning for a visit/session.  Of course, they are beautiful just like her!!  I can't believe that little Sofiya is only three years younger than her mommy was when our friendship began!

Ryan's Maternity session....

Baby Peyton has already arrived....but here are a few from Ryan's maternity session.  She and Kyle were anxiously awaiting the arrival of their (at that point, unnamed) baby girl.  Sweet, sweet, sweet!

Valentine's Cards for a Cause!

One of my very best lifelong friends is pursuing the adoption of a precious 8 year old Ukranian girl.  This process is both emotionally and financially exhausting, and we are trying to do anything we can to help bring their little girl home to her forever family.
Dawn Lindley of Lindley Creative has graciously offered to donate any and all proceeds of these cards to the Redding's effort!!
Click here to read their story: www.teamredding.blogspot.com

Cards are printed on premium press papers with a stunning pearl finish and are 2-sided. The back side of the card has room for more photos, or we'll use complementary art -- super cute for classmates or family! All cards measure 4x5 inches, except the square option which is 5x5. Cards are $1.50 each with a minimum order of 25.

Orders need to be placed by Feb 1 to arrive in time for Valentine's Day. Email dawn@lindleycreative.com for ordering or more info.

Black and whites....

As much as I love color images, I also really love black and whites.  There is something really compelling about them....for me it is a combination of things:  Removing the color makes the subject really stand out, because that is all you see.  In a way, black and white photography also feels really timeless to me.....It is the perfect medium to tell a story with your images....sometimes it feels like you are looking at something that is really private to someone else because the lack of color makes them seem very raw.
I am trying to spend more time working in black and white, and learning how to make my b&w images as compelling as the ones I love to look at....

So in the spirit of working on improving my black and white images, I am going to try to do a little "Project 52" with them....Project 52's can be centered on any topic you'd like...they are basically a way to work on something throughout a year's time.  A new black and white image a week, just for the sake of photography.....hopefully I can find some inspiration photographing things just for the sake of photographing them.....and come up with some beautiful images in the process.
What do you think, readers?  What is your favorite medium of photography... black and white or color?
